History of Hc Barys

The birth of hockey in Astana (earlier – Akmolinsk, Tselinograd, Akmola) took place in the late 50’s . The pioneers of development under the leadership of the trainer Nikolai Frolov were I. Kornilov, A. Anisimov, B. Morozov, Yu. Kolbasyuk, V. Maryin, Yu. Gagulin, the Biryukov brothers and Cherpakovs, V. Antonov, S. Efremov, B. Grachev, B. Bekbergenov, M. Kennethayev and others. At the same time, competitions were held in Akmolinsk among teams of sports societies and physical culture groups. The debut of hockey players of the virgin land in the republican arena was held in the 3rd Kazakh SSR Championship, which took place in January 1959 in Ust-Kamenogorsk .
